Tourist Declares Climate Emergency
Tourism Declares Climate Emergency is a global collective of 96 (and counting) travel companies that unites in a declaration of climate emergency. And in recognition of the climate impact of tourism as well as the potential for positive influence and transformative change.
As part of their declaration, companies commit to develop and share their climate action plan. Such plans include commitment to generating energy from renewable sources, providing costumer incentives for low energy usage, minimising single-use plastics and more. Also, partners are encouraged to donate part of their revenue to nature conservation projects and offer a voluntary carbon offsetting option for their customers.
Tourism Declares recognises that all companies are different. As a minimum, declaring companies are expected to commit to a one year plan of reducing emissions by at least 55%, share their progress openly and work together to encourage suppliers and partners to make the same commitment.
