La Tablée des Chefs provides the homeless with surplus hotel meals

Montreal-based organisation La Tablée Des Chefs connects hotels and restaurants to local homeless shelters to ensure that surplus food is provided to people in need in a safe and sanitary manner. Food suppliers donate by using provided packaging for surplus food to be picked up by a food distribution organisation or local shelter. In 2020, La Tablée des Chefs launched a project called Les Cuisine Solidaires to mobilize the Québec food industry to produce and donate meals for people suffering the consequences of COVID-19.

La Tablée Des Chefs also runs an extensive culinary education initiative in collaboration with schools all over Québec. School children aged 12-17 can take part in workshops on cooking techniques and healthy eating habits as well as a cooking competition between schools. Excess food produced from these programs are, of course, donated to local shelters. Since the initiative was created in 2012, more than 14.000 young students have participated.
