Meet the locals
Meet n’ greet with a swede and live like a local
Meet The Locals is a Swedish program that allows visitors to connect with locals for a shared experience. Tourists can browse the Meet The Locals website to find activities hosted by locals all over West Sweden. You can go for a jog with Johan or a coffee with Cecilia and experience life in West Sweden from a local’s perspective.
The idea is simple. Tourists use the website to find a local to share an experience with. Then, a request is sent and the visitor and local can arrange their rendez-vous. Anyone can sign up and the hosts freely choose the experience they want to offer. As activities vary broadly – from looking at street art in Gothenburg to going mountain biking in the woods – there should be something for everyone.
Meet the Locals aims to reduce the environmental impact of tourism by encouraging a more shared economy. In some cases, visitors can stay at the local’s house and, perhaps, share a ride on the way to their activity.
