Hospitals and hospitality join forces against COVID-19

Hotel2Hospital is a COVID-19 response initiative that repurposes hotel rooms into functional hospital rooms. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed two contrasting challenges for hospitality and hospitals. On the hospitality side, room bookings have dramatically declined due to travel bans. On the healthcare side, hospital room capacity is overwhelmed due to the spread of the virus.

Architecture, engineering and interior design firm Leo A Daly has found a way to provide a common solution to the contrasting challenges. Leo A Daly found that hotel rooms can be repurposed into hospital rooms as they provide good ventilation, beds, toilets in each room, with infrastructure for food deliveries and cleaning services already in place.

Based on their expertise with interior design of both hotels and hospitals, Leo A Daly provides guidance to hotels on how to repurpose their rooms and general facilities to welcome patients rather than guests. At least for the time being.
