Hospitality hygiene innovations in the midst of crisis

Following the pandemic crisis of COVID-19, requirements and demands for cleanliness and sanitation within hospitality has increased exponentially. These new requirements have been met with new innovations and initiatives across hotels and lodgings.

Such initiatives include touch-free technologies and online check-ins/outs, like the citizenM hotel’s free global app that makes guests able to “remote control” their hotel experience. Or like the implementation of intense cleaning technologies like electrostatic sprayers or even testing of UV lighting technologies, as introduced at Marriott hotels (and specifically testing so-called germ-zapping robots in their Westin Houston Medical Center).

Hyatt hospitality chain has also announced that every Hyatt hotel will have a “hygiene and wellbeing leader”, also looking to add a holistic sense of wellbeing throughout the guest experience.
