Braziliando
Braziliando is a Brazilian travel agency that offers immersive community-based tourism and volunteering in the Amazon with activities created and hosted by locals.
In order to mitigate environmental impacts, trips are made in small groups and travelers must follow the code of conduct co-created with community members. Amongst other instructions, travellers are asked to take back non-organic waste for proper disposal, to use biodegradable hygiene products and not to collect anything from nature. In addition, no activity involves interaction with wild animals, and visitors are encouraged to shop local produce to help the environment and community.
The community itself sets the prices, and part of the proceeds are transferred to a fund reserved for community goods such as power generator maintenance and medical supplies.
Braziliando creates economic growth in the Amazon through tourism with limited environmental impact (8.4, 8.9)
Braziliando supports Amazon communities through tourism and encourages the sustainable management of natural resources (12.2, 12.b)
