Dogs of Chernobyl
Care for and adobt the dogs of Chernobyl
Airbnb Animal Experiences offers tourists the chance to meet and feed abandoned dogs with the Dogs of Chernobyl program. The entirety of the experience cost goes to the Clean Futures Fund (CFF) which operates the program. CFF is a non-profit that raises funds and lends support to communities hit by industrial disasters.
When the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded in 1986, those evacuated were only allowed to carry essential items with them. As a result, pets were abandoned and their descendants continue to live in the evacuated zone.
With Dogs Of Chernobyl, visitors can spend 11 hours feeding, vaccinating and giving care to the abandoned dogs. The cost of the experience is 350$ and covers both food and transportation. CFF also offers a virtual adoption option, where donators can choose to support a cat or dog from CFF’s website. The donation is then used to fund the on-site care and treatment of the chosen animal.
