Magda's hotel
At Magda’s Hotel in Vienna, guests can help change the world in their sleep!
Magda’s hotel is a frontrunner. First hotel in Austria to be run as a social business, the initiative by Caritas Austria is redefining hospitality as we know it.
The hotel is run by 20 former refugees and 15 hospitality professionals. By booking one of the almost 80 rooms, guests are supporting the hotel’s goal of solving social problems with economic means. Alongside the guests, Magda’s also provide temporary residence for 25 young, unaccompanied refugees – some of whom work in the hotel. The hotel is in a former retirement home, restored and decorated with mostly up- and recycled furniture. The project was funded with a loan from charity Caritas, sponsors and through a crowdfunding campaign in the local community.
Magda’s is a play of words, referencing ”Mag Das” – meaning ”like that”. We certainly do!
