Boutiquehotel stadthalle achieves zero-energy balance

Boutiquehotel Stadthalle, Vienna, is among first hotels in the world to achieve energy self-sufficiency, which means that it produces all the energy that it consumes. The hotel roof is equipped with 130m2 of solar panels that, depending on the weather, can heat up enough water to provide for the entire hotel. In addition, the hotel deploys 93m2 of photovoltaic panels and an underground heat pump to provide further heating.

The hotel relies on water from its own well to maintain its garden. All of the hotel’s lighting comes from energyefficient LED lamps and clean drinking water is provided via GRANDER Water Revitalisation Units that makes water drinkable without the use of electricity. Also, the hotel’s lavender garden is home to bees that produce honey for the hotel’s organic breakfast.

Lastly, Boutiquehotel Stadthalle grants a 10% discount to guests who arrive by bicycle or train.
