Adventure Junky creates a global network of sustainable travellers

Adventure Junky is a travel planning app that offers more than 1000 sustainable adventures for users to embark on.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, more than 3 million travellers would cross international borders every day. Apart from putting enormous stress on local environments, tourists emit roughly 3 times more CO2 than local residents. To cope with this challenge, Adventure Junky developed a points system where low-impact experiences rank higher. Users who take part in experiences accumulate points and climb the app’s leaderboard.

Adventure Junky also offers a carbon offsetting service in collaboration with Offset Earth. The idea is to give frequent travellers a way to compensate for their travel-related emissions. Offset Earth plants 48 trees per month on behalf of each offsetter. Users can keep track of their “forest” and their contribution to Adventure Junky’s goal of planting 10 million trees with the service.
