Virtual Helsinki
With Virtual Helsinki, you can visit Helsinki from home
Virtual Helsinki allows people from all over the world to visit the digital twin of Helsinki. Within the VR experience of Helsinki, users can visit the Senate Square at the White Church, the home of architect Alvar Aalto and get a view of the city’s skyline.
The pandemic crisis of COVID-19 has turbo-charged the offerings of virtual and digital experiences across destinations, but Virtual Helsinki was available even before the crisis. However, during the pandemic, Helsinki was quick to further develop virtual experiences, including a massive concert on Senate Square for the May Day celebrations with a Finnish rap group and over one million viewers (with avatars).
The ambitions of virtual Helsinki are manifold – for future shopping, city touring and visiting, concerts and the potential of virtual citizenship.
