Navigating gym
Sightseeing powered by on-board workouts
A floating gym installed in a sightseeing boat lets tourists take in the beautiful sights along the Seine river while breaking a sweat on the built-in exercise machines. Created by Italian company Carlo Ratti Associati, the 20m long boat is powered by the on-board exercise of its passengers. The boat is equipped with glass window panels on the side as well as a retractable roof to ensure that passengers can fully enjoy the view of the city.
In addition to 45 workout stations, solar panels have been installed on the roof to ensure sufficient energy when passenger numbers are low. The boat’s window panels also function as screens that display the power harnessed from the passengers’ workout, as well as data about the Seine’s real time environmental conditions.
The man-powered floating gym offers an alternative way of sightseeing that is both good for the passengers’ health and to the environment.
