Much Better Adventures
Much Better Adventures does much more than travel planning
Much Better Adventures (MBA) is a booking platform for adventure travellers. The platform pairs users with local experts to go to places not commonly visited by tourists. Experiences include kayaking, mountain climbing, rafting and more.
In terms of sustainability and corporate social responsibility, MBA does more than most. It works with local businesses to ensure that an average of 80% of spending on their trips stays in the local economies. MBA co-founded the Tourism Declares partnership (see other idea in this catalogue) and has published a plan for carbon reduction in accordance with its guidelines. Furthermore, MBA spends 5% of revenue on re-wilding projects that remove more CO2 from the atmosphere than MBA trips add. MBA are also activists. As reported by the Guardian and Telegraph, they ran a campaign to raise awareness of controversial plans to dam the Vjosa, Europe’s last free flowing river.
