Making Rio De Janeiro accessible for all

Rio Accessible Tour

-

Rio de Janeiro’s perhaps two biggest attractions – the sandy beach of Copacabana and Christ the Redeemer on top of the Corcovado mountain – are not exactly easily accessible for people of reduced mobility. Social enterprise Rio Accessible Tour has set out to make guided tours of the city accessible for everyone.
Rio Accessible Tour brings the necessary staff and equipment to make their tours as inclusive as possible. The agency has tours of the city attractions, the national park and botanical garden, as well as adventure sports offerings. Included in the tours are transit in wheelchair-accessible vehicles, audio descriptions, as well as tactile and sensorial experiences. Rio Accessible makes use of innovative wheelchairs with special wheels that are operable even in the sand of the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches.Tours are available in English and Portuguese and range in length from a few hours to multiple day excursions.
