HomeSuiteHome is Amsterdam’s newest take on staycation
With HomeSuiteHome (HSH), Amsterdam locals went on an Easter staycation in the comfort of their homes – all the while supporting local businesses that were suffering from the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. HSH partnered with more than 14 local entrepreneurs and businesses in the hospitality sector to provide an authentic hotel experience for homebound citizens from April 11-12 during the nationwide lockdown in 2020.
”Guests” checked in online and received a curated welcome gift consisting of locally sourced goods. HSH ran an online concierge service via WhatsApp and provided participants with breakfast and optionally dinner delivered from local restaurants as well as evening entertainment in the form of livestreamed music and comedy shows.
HSH was an immediate success as both available packages, priced at €85 and €150 respectively, sold out. HSH works to repeat the success of the first project and further explore ways to support local businesses.
HSH decreases businesses’ economic loss to the COVID-19 pandemic (11.5)
HSH provides a sustained income for local tourism businesses struggling during COVID lockdowns (8.9)
