Authentic local encounters in the Amazon rainforest

Poranduba

-

Poranduba is a Brazilian travel agency that offers authentic community-based tourism by the Rio Negro riverside in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. All tours and services are designed and hosted by the locals.
The trips vary in length between two and six nights and seek to immerse visitors in local lifestyle. Local food is a highlight of the trip and all meals are included in the price. Activities include craft workshops, boat trips, canoeing, fishing, hiking and more.
By ensuring that all income stays with the hosts, Poranduba has helped the Rio Negro riverside community become economically independent of deforestation and instead rely primarily on tourism and fishing to make a living. The agency operates within the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve – a large reserve in the Amazon which intends to preserve nature and the local lifestyle.
